Verify the destination before judging the design
Open the intended URL directly and confirm the domain, spelling, page content, HTTPS certificate, access settings, mobile layout, and loading speed.
Ask the content owner to approve the exact address in writing for high-cost print jobs.
Decode the generated file
Scan the standalone export and compare the decoded address character by character with the approved destination.
If direct linking matters, confirm the QR contains the final domain rather than a provider redirect or temporary sharing URL.
Test the complete layout
Place the QR in the final card, label, brochure, poster, or package design. Export the production PDF and scan from that file at realistic display size.
Check that no crop marks, artwork, text, or backgrounds enter the quiet zone.
Print a real proof
Screen tests cannot reveal ink spread, toner quality, paper texture, lamination glare, curvature, folds, or final physical dimensions.
Print using the expected process and material whenever the job is important or expensive.
- Try iPhone and Android devices
- Test near and far
- Test bright and dim light
- Test likely viewing angles
- Test through glass if applicable
Keep a production record
Archive the QR source, approved URL, final artwork, proof date, and test notes with the job. This makes future reprints safer and easier to audit.
Repeat the destination check before every reprint because websites and ownership can change even when artwork does not.
