Understand what the logo covers

A centered logo is drawn over part of the QR data. Error correction can help recover some obscured information, but it is not permission to cover an arbitrary amount.

The three large finder patterns near the corners are especially important and should remain untouched.

Use a simple logo

A compact square mark with clear shapes works better than a wide wordmark or detailed illustration. Remove tiny taglines that will not survive at QR size.

Use a high-quality source image so the logo itself remains clean when exported.

Keep the logo modest

Start small and increase only when necessary. A conservative logo preserves more QR modules and gives cameras greater tolerance for print and lighting imperfections.

Long URLs create denser patterns, making aggressive logo coverage even less forgiving.

Separate the logo visually

A small solid frame behind the logo can keep QR modules from showing through detailed or transparent artwork.

The frame should remain centered and should not extend into finder patterns or the outer quiet zone.

  • Use high foreground/background contrast
  • Avoid transparent fine detail
  • Keep finder patterns unchanged
  • Preserve the outer quiet zone

Test every branded version

Scan the final exported file, the complete layout, and a physical proof. Try several phones, distances, angles, and lighting conditions.

If results are inconsistent, reduce the logo, simplify colors, increase the QR size, or return to square modules.
